Oil depot burns in Sochi, Russia after drone strike
On the night of Sunday, August 3, explosions were reported in Sochi, Krasnodar Territory, during a drone attack. Locals said that the Rosneft-Kubannefteprodukt oil depot caught fire
The mayor of Sochi, Andrey Proshunin, confirmed the incident.
"In the Adler district, drone debris hit oil tanks, sparking a fire. Cleanup efforts are already underway. 127 personnel and 35 units of equipment are working at the site," the statement said.
Russian social media reported that the Rosneft-Kubannefteprodukt oil depot near Sochi Airport (Adler Airport) was on fire.
According to ASTRA, Sochi residents heard explosions and saw flames. At Sochi International Airport, passengers were moved to a bomb shelter, with some complaining about no access to drinking water. The airport had earlier suspended operations but reopened in the morning.
Emergency officials said garages and a store also caught fire. The oil depot fire is still being put out.
