Not full-scale offensive: expert on Russian troops' activity in Kursk region
Oleksandr Kovalenko, military and political observer with the Information Resistance group, says that the Russian army has significantly reduced the use of guided bombs, tactical aircraft, and FPV drones in the Kursk region
He said this on Espreso TV.
"The Russian army has not brought new forces to Kursk, but units that have been pulled there from almost the entire combat zone in Ukraine, that is, from every direction, from every foothold. The total number of enemy personnel is slightly more than 36,000, which is involved in the Kursk grouping - up to 60 battalions. In addition, the Russians are actively using the mechanized component, which was not the case before. The enemy is now almost constantly engaging equipment during each of their breakthrough attempts," noted Oleksandr Kovalenko.
According to him, there is a nuance in that the Russian army has significantly reduced the use of guided bombs, as well as tactical aviation and FPV drones. This is due to the fact that there is no stable line of contact, and the Russians sometimes do not understand where their unit is and where the Ukrainian Defense Forces are. Therefore, in order to minimize "friendly fire," they have reduced the use of guided bombs and other munitions.
"Russia's artillery, by the way, is also not as intensive as along the contact line in Ukraine, to put it mildly. That's why the Russians are mainly relying on infantry and mechanized components. These are not full-fledged offensive actions of the Russian army, compared to the combat zone in Ukraine, where the enemy makes maximum use of the infantry component, artillery support, guided bombs, tactical aviation, helicopters, i.e. the entire complex," summarized the military and political observer with the Information Resistance group.
