No defense lines constructed outside Avdiivka despite ample time — Ukrainian serviceman
Ivan Varchenko, a serviceman with the Ukrainian Armed Forces and a national security expert, noted that it is necessary to strengthen defense lines where Russia seeks to advance
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"We must take into account the fact that no major defense lines have been built outside Avdiivka, although there was enough time. Ukrainian soldiers paid the price for this. We should not ignore it. Now we need to set the task of reinforcing the defense lines that lie in the places where the enemy is trying to advance. The Zaporizhzhia direction is seen by the Russians as the territory of their defeat. The enemy has not been able to succeed for a long time. Of course, the occupiers are trying to concentrate their efforts on the Zaporizhzhia direction as well," noted Varchenko.
According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman, Russia is also trying to concentrate its efforts in the Kupyansk-Lyman direction and in the eastern part of Kherson region.
"The pressure persists across almost all fronts, with the enemy attempting to reinforce with large forces. Presently, it is evident that all Russian reserves are engaged in combat. This underscores the urgency of addressing the shortage of adequate ammunition. There is a critical need to go beyond mere rhetoric surrounding the formation of defense lines and ensure that these lines are not only established but also fortified sufficiently. Care must be taken not only in verbal commitments but also at the tangible level of frontline engineering, especially concerning the frontline zone," emphasized Varchenko.
- At least 92 combat clashes took place in the frontline over the last day. Ukrainian forces repelled attacks in 7 directions and eliminated 1,160 Russian soldiers.
- Reuters writes that Russia will have sufficient resources to wage war against Ukraine at the current intensity, probably for at least two years.
- Reserve Major of the National Guard of Ukraine, veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war Oleksiy Hetman said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces need to stabilize the situation and prevent Russian troops from breaking through the defense.
