Moscow mayor reports major drone strike on Russia’s capital

Russian state agency TASS confirmed the incident.
At 3 a.m., Moscow’s Mayor, Sergey Sobyanin, was the first to announce that Russian air defenses in the Podolsky district allegedly thwarted a drone headed toward the city.
By 4:33 a.m., according to Sobyanin, Moscow’s air defenses had reportedly shot down the eighth drone.
Subsequently, Russian authorities reported the downing of two more drones.
Sobyanin remarked, “Air defense forces shot down 10 UAVs that were flying towards Moscow at night. This is one of the largest attempts to attack the capital.”
- Meanwhile, in Proletarsk, Rostov region, a fire continues to rage at an oil depot, ignited by a drone strike on August 18.
