Belarus' Lukashenko urges Ukraine to negotiate for second time since start of Kursk operation
On August 18, self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated that since Ukraine has moved beyond the “denazification” stage, Moscow and Kyiv should return to the negotiating table
He made this statement on the Russian state-controlled channel Russia 1.
“There are no more Nazis there. Ukraine has been denazified. There are still a few radical Nazis, but they are no longer influential,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
Following these comments, he urged Russia and Ukraine to return to negotiations for the second time in the past week to “prevent further escalation of the conflict." He suggested that the agreements reached in Istanbul in 2022 could serve as a basis for future agreements.
“If you sit down at the negotiating table, the question is: where do you start? He (Russian leader Vladimir Putin) made a good, reasonable suggestion: let’s begin where we left off in Istanbul. Let’s reopen the notebook where your negotiators and leaders signed and initialed. Yes, the situation on the ground has changed, but this is a good place to start,” Lukashenko said.
