Lavrov: Some points of Trump’s peace deal need further work

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says that the Kremlin is ready to reach an agreement with the U.S. regarding Ukraine, although some elements of the agreement need to be finalized

He said this in an interview with CBS News.

The Russian Foreign Minister said there are some signs they’re moving in the right direction, referring to ongoing peace discussions.  

Lavrov noted that the U.S. president believes that Russia is heading the right way. Also he said that they are prepared to reach a deal. There are still specific aspects that require additional work, and that’s what Russia currently focused on.

He also called Trump perhaps the only leader in the world who acknowledged the need to address the root causes of this conflict.

  • Oleksandr Kraiev, expert at the Ukrainian Prism Foreign Policy Council, believes that Donald Trump is convinced that Russia cannot be defeated and shares Kremlin narratives regarding the war in Ukraine.
