Kh-69 missile deemed more dangerous than Kinzhal used in Trypilska TPP strike: explained by military expert

Serhiy Zgurets, Defense Express CEO and military expert, believes that Russia used a new Kh-69 cruise missile against the Trypilska thermal power plant

He shared the information on Espreso TV.

"When we talk about the situation with Trypilska TPP, we have provided an analysis on the Defense Express portal that there is a high probability that the enemy will use the Kh-69 cruise missile. This is evidenced by the wreckage, and we were informed about this wreckage by experts who worked in the area of the TPP. What is the peculiarity of this missile and what are the risks? We wrote on our portal that this missile is more dangerous than the Kinzhal. This name was criticized, but I will try to explain.

The Kh-69 cruise missile has a range of about 400 km, although it was previously believed to have a range of 290-300 km. It can be used from frontline aircraft, including Su-35 and Su-34. If the Kh-101 is used from strategic bombers and the preliminary time can be determined, then a significant number of Su-35s, provided that the Kh-69 is produced more massively, creates a greater opportunity for the enemy to use these cruise missiles," Zgurets said.

According to the military expert, the Kh-69 missile is speculated to fly at a lower altitude, potentially within 20 meters, although definitive information is currently unavailable. This altitude is notably lower than that of the Kh-101 missile.

"This increases the requirements for our air defense system. That is, we can say that the enemy used a new Kh-69 cruise missile against Trypilska TPP, and it turned out to be quite accurate. We are waiting for confirmation and additional data on the wreckage of this missile," added Zgurets.
