Trump’s push to end war in Ukraine is just excuse to rebuild ties with Russia — Polish expert
Piotr Kulpa, former secretary of the Polish delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, believes that Donald Trump is trying to restore friendly relations with Russia as quickly as possible, rather than fairly end the war
He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.
"Unfortunately, the truth is that the reason to end the war between Russia and Ukraine is just an excuse for Trump's administration to form closer, almost friendly relations with Russia. And this is the key; the rest is just a game, a pretext to turn Ukraine into a debtor, a scapegoat, and to make it look foolish. Ukraine's strength, the strength of the Ukrainian people, is that they do not kneel before anyone, and the President of Ukraine does not want to be a fool. This is the key point. One must understand that Trump's entire structure is based on combining security with the economy. He wants to overturn the Bretton Woods system, which was initially built on the link between providing security in exchange for economic opportunities: trade, access to markets, and so on. Today, what we are witnessing is an attempt to bring back this system, which Ronald Reagan broke when he opened up globalization to everyone," says Kulp.
The expert noted that Donald Trump is willing to sacrifice the interests of Central Europe in order to restore global influence on the European continent.
"From Trump's perspective, who sees the United States as the global policeman, a global villain is needed, and that villain is Russia. Without a global villain to scare Europe, it is very difficult for the global policeman to dominate Europe and have it on his side in the great clash between the 'steam engine' being mounted by China. What we are witnessing is the sacrifice of the interests of Central European countries. I repeat, you cannot separate countries because separating Poland, Ukraine, the Baltic states, and occupied Belarus greatly weakens the sovereignty of all of us," he added.
