The Russian BBC reported the information.
Journalists managed to identify the names of 45,123 Russian soldiers who have died in the war against Ukraine since February 2022. Of these, at least 6,614 were killed from October 2023 to February 2024, i.e. during the period when Russian units were advancing near Avdiivka.
The main burden during the storming of Avdiivka fell on people who were imprisoned, volunteers and mobilized. Of the 5,406 dead mobilized, 80% died in the second year of the war.
The journalists counted the deaths based on open sources - reports from local administrations, the media and relatives of the victims, as well as cemeteries. The actual death toll may be much higher.
