Italy restricts Ukraine’s use of provided weapons from striking Russian territory
Italy maintains its stance on the weapons provided to Ukraine, asserting that its position prohibits Kyiv from using Italian-supplied weapons to strike Russian territory
This was stated by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, reports Corriere.
On Wednesday, August 29, Tajani arrived in Brussels to participate in an informal meeting of the European Union Foreign Affairs Council, which was also attended by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
He said that Italy is not at war with Moscow, commenting on Ukraine's request to allow strikes with the weapons it provided on Russian territory.
“Each country decides for itself. We have sent mainly defensive weapons, now we are going to send a new Samp-T battery, which is defensive and cannot be used on the territory of Russia. We reiterate that we are not at war with Russia, NATO is not at war with Russia, so Italy remains in the position of using our weapons on the territory of Ukraine. Then other countries will decide as they see fit,” Tajani said.
