ISW: U.S. intelligence sharing ban weakens Ukraine on battlefield and in defense of civilians

Ukrainian Pravda writes that five senior Western and Ukrainian officials confirmed that the halt in U.S. intelligence assistance has already helped Russian forces gain ground. A Ukrainian government source stated that the restriction has significantly impacted operations in the Kursk region, limiting Ukraine’s ability to detect incoming Russian aircraft and warn civilians of impending strikes.
ISW assesses that a full suspension of intelligence sharing would further weaken Ukraine’s ability to conduct long-range strikes, defend against Russian offensives, and safeguard its defense-industrial base, while allowing Russia to intensify drone and missile attacks on Ukrainian territory.
- Ukrainian politician and diplomat Roman Bezsmertnyi noted that intelligence from the U.S. is only a part of the intelligence information Ukraine receives.
