U.S. vs China: lawmaker on peace initiatives regarding Russia's war against Ukraine

He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.

"As for the formula for reconciliation, the issue here is not Ukraine, but the confrontation between Beijing and Washington. Because in recent years, Beijing has been trying to become the second pole in the world, that is, to return the bipolar world, when the Soviet Union was the second pole, and now China will be the second pole. Therefore, in this case, Ukraine, unfortunately, is quite cynically becoming one of these bargaining chips for China, that is, one of the reasons to try to unite a certain number of countries under its wing," the Ukrainian MP commented.

Volodymyr Ariev summed up that the rivalry between the US and China is currently taking place without Ukraine's participation.

• On September 11, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that his country would continue to promote its own vision of ending Russia's war against Ukraine. Beijing will also persuade most countries to support its proposal.
• On September 13, Chinese Defence Minister Dong Jun said that the only solution to end the war in Ukraine and Gaza is negotiations.
