Russia acknowledges ATACMS attack, signals no “red lines” for U.S. missiles — military expert
Military expert and editor-in-chief of Defense Express media and consulting company, Oleh Katkov, commented on Ukraine’s attack on the arsenal of Russia’s 1046th Logistics Center near the city of Karachev, Bryansk region
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"The key point is that even Russia has confirmed it was ATACMS, according to the so-called Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Lavrov, allegedly cannot confirm this. I would say the following: if it was ATACMS, that's great because, in the end, the United States has lifted the inhumane restriction on the non-use of long-range missile weapons, moreover entirely. Previously, there was information suggesting it could only be used in the Kursk region, while Karachev, this ammunition depot, is located in the Bryansk region. So, this is much more positive," he said.
According to Oleh Katkov, by confirming this attack, the Russian Ministry of Defense acknowledges that there are no "red lines."
"Moreover, if we consider that it might not have been ATACMS, since Ukraine has its own missiles, including ballistic missiles, as the President of Ukraine has stated, and also has Neptune cruise missiles that can be used for such purposes, the Russian Ministry of Defense has, with this statement, once again confirmed that there are no red lines. There will be no escalation, and this message from the Russian Ministry of Defense directly signals to the United States that full permission can be granted if it wasn't given before," he said.
