Germany's Rheinmetall to provide Ukraine with 20 more Marder infantry fighting vehicles
German arms giant Rheinmetall will provide Ukraine with 20 more Marder infantry fighting vehicles. Delivery is scheduled for the first half of 2025
This was reported by the press service of the company.
The order for the supply of Marder infantry fighting vehicles in the 1A3 version was placed in December 2024 by the German government, which will finance it. The exact cost of the order is not disclosed by the German company, but it is noted that it is a "mid-range double-digit million euro amount".
In the 1A3 version, the Marder is equipped with an additional laser rangefinder for effective and precise target engagement. The first 20 combat vehicles of this type were delivered by the Rheinmetall group on behalf of the German government in March 2023.
"Rheinmetall began overhauling Marder 1A3 infantry fighting vehicles from its company stocks at its own expense in spring 2022. Since then, the combat vehicles have been continuously repaired and delivered for their immediate deployment. The work is being carried out at the Group's sites in Unterlüß and Kassel," the press service noted.
- At the end of September, Rheinmetall handed over another batch of 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine to help them protect the country against Russian aggression.
