He shared his insights in an interview with Espreso.
"Considering the report of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Novopavlivka and west of Avdiivka fronts remain the most active. Currently, approximately 30 combat clashes occur in these areas. It's worth noting that compared to peak periods and just 2-3 weeks ago, when there were nearly 100 clashes, the current count stands at 53. This suggests a slight decrease in hostilities intensity, possibly indicating enemy fatigue," commented the military expert.
Zgurets highlighted the events of March 30, where Russian forces attempted an attack west of Avdiivka with 36 tanks and 12 AFVs. A significant portion of the tanks and all AFVs were destroyed, underscoring Ukraine's effective capabilities in combating the enemy. However, there has been a recent shift in Russia's tactics, with increased use of armored vehicles and a return to battalion assault formats, a strategy not seen in some time.
"In the western direction of Avdiivka, the enemy is attempting to advance, but the outcome is predictable," said Serhiy Zgurets. "Defense-wise, Novopavlivka direction, the advance of the enemy towards Chasiv Yar and west of Avdiivka remains challenging. However, its seems that the enemy is showing signs of exhaustion. We might expect a wave of rotation and regrouping in the Russian army to continue operations west of Avdiivka and attempt to break through to the town of Chasiv Yar."
