France’s crisis won’t disrupt aid for Ukraine — political analyst
Journalist, political commentator, and former MP Andriy Shkil stated that France remains Ukraine's most reliable European ally through 2027
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"France will operate within the framework of the old budget. In other words, the previous budget allocations will be extended into 2025. Therefore, all deliveries to Ukraine planned for 2025, 2026, and 2027 will be fulfilled. Unfortunately, nothing new will emerge, but we hope the French provide new equipment and additional funds," Shkil emphasized.
The political commentator also added that after 2027, it will depend on who becomes France's president, but until then, France remains Ukraine's most reliable ally in Europe.
French government collapse
A no-confidence vote was initiated after Michel Barnier invoked Article 49.3 of the Constitution, allowing for budget approval without parliamentary consent. The Prime Minister assumed responsibility for the budget proposal.
President Emmanuel Macron was confident that Barnier's government would withstand the vote and that parliament would reject the motion. The French leader also stated he would not resign, as urged by the opposition.
On the evening of Wednesday, December 4, the French parliament passed a no-confidence vote against the government. The following day, President Macron accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Michel Barnier.
