Military fortifications in Kharkiv region are 99.9% ready - PM Shmyhal

This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, who is on a working visit to Kharkiv region on December 5.

According to him, almost 800 strongholds have been built and equipped in the region.

‘The Ministry of Defense has been instructed to ensure that all fortifications are equipped with drainage systems for normal drainage. The necessary changes have been made to the documentation, and the work has been completed,’ the Prime Minister informed.

At the same time, he noted that one of the programs that requires special attention is demining, as Kharkiv region is one of the most mine-contaminated areas.

‘Currently, about 320 sappers from various government organizations are working on demining here using 24 mechanical demining machines. In addition, there are about 400 more sappers from non-governmental and international organizations in the region,’ Shmyhal said.

He also called on farmers in Kharkiv region to take advantage of the humanitarian demining market, which allows them to receive 100% compensation for clearing their land of explosive ordnance.
