In the spring of 2025, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) warned Bohdan Krotevych, former chief of staff of Ukraine’s 12th Azov Special Forces Brigade, about an assassination attempt being planned by Russian special services

He shared the information in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda.

According to the military officer, his name was included in the Russian FSB's list of people to be eliminated, confirmed by other individuals who were also on the list.

Bohdan Krotevych said that at first he perceived this as a possible reason for surveillance by the SBU, but later received clear recommendations from the special services on safe actions and behavior in case of a threat. According to him, the list was handed over to Ukraine by Western partners.

The military officer noted that although being included on the FSB list indicates the importance of his activities, it also poses a real threat to his life.

“I was even a little flattered, because if Russia adds you to the list for assassination, it means you've done something important in your life. Although, of course, there's little pleasant about it. But this is war, and we are at war,” Krotevych said.

He stressed that such measures are part of the state of war and a means of protection against enemy attacks.
