
Foreign volunteers banned from Kherson region after Russian attack kills two French aid workers
Starting February 5, foreign volunteers will be allowed to enter a number of dangerous communities in the Kherson region only with the approval of the military administration
This is reported by the Kherson Regional State Administration.
"From now on, representatives of foreign, consular or international organizations will not be allowed to visit settlements under constant enemy fire without the approval of the regional military administration and military command," says the statement about the decision, which was made during a meeting of the regional defense council.
The ban applies to the following settlements: Kizomys, Velytenske, Berehove, Yantarne, Dniprovske, Bilozerka, Pryozerne, Komyshany, Zymivnyk, Antonivka, Prydniprovske, Sadove, Mykilske, Poniativka, Tokarivka, Novotyahyanka, Ivanivka, Tyahyanka, Olhivka, Burhunka, Mykolaivka, Odradokamianka, Kozatske, Vesele, Beryslav, Novoberyslav, Zmiivka, Chervonyi Maiak, Novokaira, Respublikanets, Mylove, Kachkarivka, Sablukivka, Dudchany, Havrylivka, Mykhaylivka, Zolota Balka, and Osokorivka.
"Unfortunately, two French citizens, volunteers of the HEKS EPER organization, were killed in an enemy attack on Beryslav the other day. Three of their fellow citizens and a Ukrainian were wounded. In wartime, no one can guarantee safety, but we must clearly record the presence of people in areas of active hostilities," emphasized Dmytro Butriy, First Deputy Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Deputy Head of the Kherson Defense Council.
The meeting also discussed the course of the mobilization campaign and decided to create a regional military medical commission with the involvement of specialists from the regional medical institution.
- On February 1, two French volunteers were killed and three other foreigners and a Ukrainian activist were injured during the Russian shelling of Beryslav.
- On February 5, Russian Ambassador to France Alexei Meshkov was summoned to the French Foreign Ministry over the deaths of two citizens during Russian strikes in Ukraine.
