Kharkiv region announces evacuation of families with children from 47 frontline settlements

On April 11, the authorities of the Kharkiv region decided to forcibly evacuate families with children from 47 frontline settlements

This was announced by the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov.

The decision was made at the Regional Defense Council.

"We are talking only about settlements close to the border with Russia in Kharkiv, Bohodukhiv and Izium districts. According to our information, 182 children live in the designated settlements," the official wrote.

He stressed that this decision does not apply to the city of Kharkiv.

The authorities have already identified evacuation routes and booked temporary accommodation for people, Syniehubov said.

On March 26, Sinehubov warned that the list of settlements to be evacuated in Kharkiv region could be expanded.

According to Meduza, Russian security forces are convinced that the aggressor country may occupy Kharkiv, but the decision to launch a new large-scale offensive has not yet been made.

At the same time, the Centre for Countering Disinformation stated that the information about the alleged Russian preparations for an offensive on Kharkiv is not true.

On April 1, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said he sees no need to evacuate the city.
