"Fog of war": Ukrainian officer on situation in Russia's Belgorod region

“As for the Belgorod region, it’s important to understand a key aspect: while the Kursk operation was underway, Ukraine’s Defense Forces gained the opportunity in the Kharkiv region to additionally prepare engineering and fortification structures, secure positions, and during this time thoroughly study Russian forces. In particular, we identified the locations of armored and light armored vehicle storage, Russian personnel positions, command posts, drone launch points, and much more, which for now should not be publicly disclosed,” noted Yurii Fedorenko, commander of the 429th separate Achilles UAV battalion.

According to him, as a result of this work, a rocket fire system was set up, including attack drones, which makes it possible to effectively destroy Russian military targets in Russia’s Belgorod region.

“At the moment, everything that concerns the advancement of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in certain areas should be announced exclusively by Ukraine's General Staff, so everything else is the 'fog of war.' As of today, we have to say that in the Belgorod region, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are quite effective in remotely destroying legitimate Russian military targets using firepower. As for the Belgorod region, the Russians may withdraw a certain amount of its forces and equipment from the Kursk region, which will affect certain parts of the combat theater in one way or another. And the Kharkiv region is no exception, so Ukrainian defenders are taking certain measures to act preemptively,” commented Yurii Fedorenko.

• On March 21, Ukraine’s Air Force carried out a strike on the command post of a Russian border outpost in Glotovo, Belgorod region.
• On March 24, Ukrainian Special Operations Forces, in cooperation with the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, Rocket Forces and Artillery, destroyed two Russian Ka-52 and two Mi-8 helicopters in the Belgorod region of Russia.
