First positive signal emerges in Russia negotiations — political consultant
An energy ceasefire and further agreements in this direction could become the first positive signal, although the final outcome remains unclear
Hlib Ostapenko, political consultant and foreign policy expert, stated this on Espreso TV.
"I would like to emphasize the energy ceasefire and further agreements on this track. It's currently unclear whether we'll achieve a final result, but I can say that there is a first positive signal - at least in the sense that Russia did not begin shelling us with ballistic missiles last night and did not start excessively escalating by striking Kyiv's energy system," Ostapenko noted.
According to the foreign policy expert, Witkoff and Kushner were in Moscow late at night and had communications with the Russian delegation. A decision on whether to fly to Abu Dhabi will be made following the results of these negotiations.
"It's difficult to speak about anything positive in negotiations with Putin at this point, but as far as I know, the final meeting in Abu Dhabi is also planned based on the results of the Moscow meeting. They will discuss the energy ceasefire issue, as well as humanitarian matters and prisoner exchanges. So this is a good development if it leads to at least some result. But there's no talk of ending the war yet," Ostapenko stated.
- On the evening of January 22, negotiations took place in the Kremlin between Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump's special representative Steve Witkoff.
