First NATO-Ukraine center opens in Polish city of Bydgoszcz
On February 17, the first center for studying the experience of the war between Russia and Ukraine—the Joint NATO-Ukraine Analysis, Training, and Education Center (JATEC)—was opened in the city of Bydgoszcz in northern Poland
This was reported by the North Atlantic Alliance as well as on the official website of the city of Bydgoszcz.
"The JATEC, as the first joint NATO-Ukraine civil-military organization, will play a transformative role in enhancing collective security. It will serve as a catalyst for strengthening NATO-Ukraine relations and delivering rapid solutions and long-term benefits for both NATO and Ukraine," the Alliance stated.
The decision to establish the training center in Bydgoszcz was approved at the NATO summit in Washington in 2024. Within its framework, Ukraine and NATO will jointly study the experience gained by military and civilians during the full-scale war. Specifically, the Joint Analysis, Training, and Education Center will focus on multi-domain operations, cognitive warfare, and comprehensive security and defense.
The Alliance's press service emphasized that the center is the only joint NATO initiative with a country that is not a member of the bloc. Additionally, JATEC is the first joint military-civil initiative between Kyiv and the North Atlantic Alliance.
- In November 2024, it was reported that the Joint NATO-Ukraine Analysis, Training, and Education Center (JATEC) would begin operations in Poland in early 2025. This will be the first joint institution between Ukraine and NATO.
