Ukrainian Navy damages Russian rescue ship Kommuna in Sevastopol
Residents of occupied Sevastopol woke up to loud explosions on the morning of April 21, and the Crimean Bridge was closed. Later it became known that the Ukrainian Navy had hit the rescue ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the Kommuna.
Telegram channels "Crimean Wind" and ASTRA have shared updates on the situation.
Local residents began reporting explosions around 07:30, accompanied by sightings of smoke.
Reports indicate that fire engines were dispatched to the northern side of Sevastopol, heading toward Sukharna Bay or Hollandia Bay following the explosions.
Occupying forces reportedly blocked traffic on the Crimean Bridge.
Subsequently, the self-proclaimed governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, stated that military personnel on a ship in the north repelled an apparent anti-ship missile attack earlier that morning.
He noted that the debris from the incident caused a minor fire, which has since been extinguished.
Ukrainian Navy confirmation
Later, Ukrainian Navy spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk said that the Russian rescue ship Kommuna was damaged.
"Today, in Crimea, the Ukrainian Navy reached another ship from the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the Kommuna. The nature of the damage is being verified. But it is clear that the ship is no longer capable of performing its tasks. This will be repeated until the Russians run out of ships or leave Crimea," he wrote.
