Sky News reported the information.

European diplomats remain divided over the location of a possible trilateral meeting involving Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and Vladimir Putin, which could take place later this week. U.S. officials have told allies to be prepared depending on the outcome of today’s talks in Washington.

Unless last-minute changes occur, Washington and its European partners have agreed the summit would be hosted in Europe.

During a weekend video call of the so-called “coalition of the willing,” Italy’s Giorgia Meloni suggested Rome, while French President Emmanuel Macron put forward Geneva.

Both Zelenskyy and Trump reportedly prefer Rome, particularly the Vatican, whereas Putin has expressed his preference for Geneva.

Italian and Swiss foreign ministries have confirmed they are ready to host the talks. Meanwhile, EU diplomats are also considering other potential sites, including Budapest and Helsinki.

  • At a briefing in Brussels, Belgium, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen jointly stated that Russia must implement a ceasefire as a prerequisite for negotiations. On August 18, they are scheduled to hold a joint meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington.
