Destruction of Russian A-50 aircraft may delay future missile strikes - OC South
Operational Command South says that Russia used the destroyed Russian A-50 aircraft to launch powerful missile strikes against Ukraine, so its elimination may delay future missile attacks
Natalia Humeniuk, spokesperson for the Operational Command South, said this at a briefing.
"We have recorded the downing of two units. This is the Russia´s loss of two aircraft. Moreover, not just any aircraft, but those that were used to deploy the relevant command posts. One of them, the A-50, actually served as the enemy's eyes. Because thanks to this particular machine and the equipment that provided for its operation, Russian enemy was observing our territory and launching powerful missile strikes," she said.
According to Humeniuk, it was with the help of the A-50 that Russian forces identified and planned future targets.
"Therefore, we expect that such a strike will be quite sensitive and will at least postpone future missile strikes," the spokeswoman added.
- On January 15, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi and the Air Force confirmed the downing of Russian A-50 and Il-22 aircraft.
