Denmark pledges €130 million to boost arms production for Ukraine
The Danish government will allocate €130 million for its companies willing to invest in Ukraine's defense industry
Ukraine's Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko announced this.
She shared that the Danish government had introduced a new state program, under which the government, through the Danish Export and Investment Fund (EIFO), guarantees up to 70% of Danish companies' investments in Ukrainian defense enterprises.
The fund will cover a total of 1 billion Danish kroner (€130 million).
Thus, Denmark is mitigating the investment risks for Danish companies in the Ukrainian defense industry.
"For Danish manufacturers, this is an opportunity to tap into Ukrainian experience, innovations, and the ability to test weapons in real combat conditions," the Ukrainian Minister of Economy noted.
According to her, EIFO is well-known to the Danish business community, as it has been actively supporting both Danish and Ukrainian businesses. This includes export credit guarantees—reducing the risks of exporting to Ukraine by covering potential payment defaults; direct lending—providing loans to Ukrainian buyers of Danish goods and services; and investment capital—facilitating the expansion of Danish companies' operations in Ukraine.
- Danish Ambassador to Ukraine Ole Egberg Mikkelsen stated that over 90% of Denmark’s aid to Kyiv is related to defense, though Copenhagen also implements humanitarian programs.
