According to TV2, Troels Lund Poulsen told an emergency briefing that while those behind the flights had not been identified, the activity was “systematic” and pointed to the involvement of a professional actor. Danish intelligence is monitoring the situation, he said.

Poulsen and Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard said the aim of such incidents was to sow fear and division, adding that Denmark must be better prepared to counter them.

  • On Thursday, unidentified drones were again reported over Denmark, including near military facilities, forcing a temporary closure of Aalborg Airport in the north.
  • Similar incidents were reported earlier this week when drone activity disrupted flights at airports in Copenhagen and Oslo. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen called the events a “serious attack on Denmark’s critical infrastructure” and did not rule out possible Russian involvement.
  • Norwegian authorities, meanwhile, detained a tourist from Asia after he flew a drone over central Oslo, though it remains unclear if this was linked to the airport shutdown.
