Controlled information leak: military expert on Russia’s ICBM launch threat
Dmytro Sniehyrov, military expert and co-head of the civic initiative Prava Sprava, noted that the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine’s report about Russia’s planned "training-combat" launch of the RS-24 intercontinental ballistic missile from the Yars system is a controlled information leak aimed at preventing such scenarios
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
“There’s no need to stir up panic, as this is a controlled information leak by Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence aimed precisely at preventing such scenarios. Note that the report about a potential intercontinental ballistic missile strike emerged right before Donald Trump’s phone call with the Russian leader. The missile wasn’t launched, which suggests the message was received. The U.S. Embassy had also warned earlier about the possibility of ballistic strikes on Ukrainian territory, pointing out that Russia was raising the stakes,” a military expert commented.
He also addressed the panic, stressing that Ukraine is in its fourth year of full-scale war, and citizens should focus on practicing alert response routines. There should be no panic, only a clear understanding of where the nearest shelter is, what essentials to take, and how to avoid being hit by debris.
- Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence reported that on the night of May 19, 2025, Russia intended to conduct a “training-combat” launch of an RS-24 intercontinental ballistic missile from the Yars system.
