China is interested in prolonging war in Ukraine, but key concern remains - General Mussayev
General Alnur Mussayev, former head of Kazakhstan's National Security Committee, says that China is interested in reducing the economic, military, and political potential of Europe and the U.S., but opposes the use of nuclear weapons
He shared his opinion in an interview with Antin Borkovskyi, host ot the Studio West program on Espreso TV.
"Beijing takes a very pragmatic stance. China is interested in the ongoing conflict in Eastern Europe, specifically in Ukraine, where the interests of the U.S. and Europe are intertwined, but not to the extent that it leads to excessive tension. The main concern for China, as a nuclear state, is its opposition to the use of nuclear weapons. This is the only issue that genuinely worries China,” the general noted.
According to him, China is interested in prolonging the hot phase of the war in Ukraine to draw the resources, attention, and political interest of both the U.S. and Europe towards this region.
"But as we all know, the United States is focused on preventing China from gaining such economic advantage globally and exerting pressure there through various means. This situation will persist. China is not a direct player in what happens in Eastern Europe. But it is very interested in continuing this hot phase and the confrontation between Europe and Russia to weaken the economic, military, and political potential of its competitors, which are Western Europe and the U.S.," summarized Alnur Mussayev.
