Call with Putin: Trump will definitely lie about victory

Trump's phone call to Putin won’t be a negotiation. It will be a meeting where Putin alone sets unacceptable terms for peace at Ukraine’s expense

After this call, Trump will definitely lie about victory and claim Putin is ready to cease fire. To keep his lie about successful negotiations from falling apart, Trump will try to create a parallel reality where Russia and the U.S. made progress, but peace didn’t happen only because Ukraine refused it.

That’s why today will be a tough day for Ukrainian diplomacy. For the hundredth time in Trump's 50 days in office, it will have to defend itself against claims that Ukraine started this war and that reclaiming its own land isn’t aggression or an incitement to war.

Trump will make Ukraine the scapegoat and paint Zelenskyy as a bloodthirsty monster for one simple reason. Lying about Ukraine is the only way to cover up his own failure. It’s the only explanation for why his boast about being an unbeatable negotiator who would end the war in a day was complete bullsh*t.

Both Ukraine and the U.S. will lose from Trump’s strategy. Ukraine loses people without U.S. support. America loses global leadership because of a liar president.

Only Putin wins. He’s in an incredibly comfortable position now. The fool Trump got himself into trouble with his own stupid claims that he’d end the war in a day. Every day, the gap between Trump’s promises and reality widens. Right now, he still has some credibility as the new president, but soon, everyone will rub his nose in his broken promises.

Putin’s strategy is as simple as a door: do nothing and wait for... America to pressure Ukraine to save Trump’s approval ratings.

That’s exactly what will happen with Trump’s call to Putin. Many so-called "analysts" have written and will keep writing nonsense about "insider" information, strategies, and schedules. But it’s all nonsense. The schedule is the same: Trump is desperate, and Putin is not.

And Putin, an expert in manipulation, will play Trump like a fool, using time as his weapon, something Trump doesn’t have. And Trump will just grunt with satisfaction about how "awesome" he is and what a "fantastic" conversation he had with Putin himself!

Ukraine’s main challenge in this situation is not to please Trump and to defend its national interests. If it accepts Putin’s terms, it has no future. If it doesn’t, things will be hard, but it will survive. I really hope Zelenskyy understands this and has the sense of responsibility for his actions.
