UK intelligence: Russian forces advance on Ukraine's Vuhledar from three directions
The Russian army has made new gains in the Vuhledar area of the Donetsk region, with reports suggesting that they are likely to attack the town from three directions
The UK Ministry of Defense reported the information on September 25.
Russian forces continue to press on in their attempts to breach the Ukrainian defenses near Vuhledar, with fighting occurring on the outskirts of the city.
Intelligence suggests, “It is likely that Russian forces will continue to pressure on this heavily defended part of the line over the next week.”
In other areas, Russian forces are engaged in combat in the eastern part of Toretsk and south of Pokrovsk. However, the offensive around Chasiv Yar has slowed down.
The intelligence also mentioned, “It is likely that Russian forces are attacking multiple objectives simultaneously to stretch Ukrainian forces. However, this has also prevented Russia from massing forces on a single point of the line to have a more significant effect.”
- Serhiy Zgurets, a military expert and CEO of the Defense Express media and consulting company, noted that the Russian army is conducting bypass maneuvers from the west and east near Vuhledar.
