Russian fighter groups enter Vuhledar from the east — military expert Zgurets
Serhiy Zgurets, a military expert and CEO of the Defense Express media and consulting company, noted that the Russian army is conducting bypass maneuvers from the west and east near Vuhledar
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"The situation in Vuhledar has become one of the most challenging in recent days, even though we know the enemy has attempted to surround this settlement previously. This section of the frontline has been defended for over two and a half years, with the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade holding it for more than 20 months," Zgurets remarked.
According to the military expert, Russian forces are currently destroying Vuhledar.
"The town is situated on elevated terrain, making it one of the few frontline areas with a height advantage. In addition, the presence of mining, industrial, and high-rise buildings has allowed us to repel the enemy's frontal assaults for an extended period. This elevation provides a strategic advantage for artillery and anti-tank weapons. Furthermore, the enemy's progress was hindered by the Kashlahach River, which flows north of the settlement," explained Zgurets.
The expert also added that Russia's troops are currently conducting bypass maneuvers from the west and east, from Vodiane and from Prechystivka.
"Last night, we received reports that some groups of Russian fighters entered Vuhledar from the east. While the current dynamics are not in our favor, we will see how events unfold. I don't believe this is about encirclement. The key point is that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will defend this area," Zgurets emphasized.
