UK intelligence reveals Russian army losses since early 2025
Since the beginning of 2025, the invading Russian army has likely suffered 138,000 casualties (killed and wounded) in the war against Ukraine
The UK Defense Ministry reported the information.
It’s noted that since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has likely lost over 920,000 troops (killed and wounded). As of mid-April, 138,000 of those losses happened in 2025 alone.
Citing data from the Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff, UK intelligence reports that in March 2025, the average daily Russian losses were about 1,300 troops.
This number is up from 1,250 in February 2025, but still below the very high daily average of nearly 1,600 in late 2024, the post says.
Intelligence believes Russian forces are likely trying to regain momentum on the front after a period of lower shelling earlier this year. Despite the mostly static front line, Russian losses in 2025 remain much higher than in spring 2024, when daily casualty numbers didn’t consistently pass the 1,000 mark.
- In the past 24 hours alone, Russian forces lost 1,300 soldiers at the front. In total, since February 2022, Ukraine’s Defense Forces have eliminated over 933,000 Russian troops.
