UK intelligence estimates Russian losses over two years of full-scale war in Ukraine
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has deployed 130 battalion tactical groups - at least 100,000 soldiers
This was reported by the UK Ministry of Defence.
Russia has deployed 130 battalion tactical groups to invade Ukraine in 2022. This includes at least 1,300 tanks, more than 5,000 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) and armoured personnel carriers (APCs), as well as at least 100,000 troops.
“In two years of conflict, Russia's losses match - and in many cases surpass - those that comprised its original force," the intelligence said.
According to the UK, Russia's confirmed losses include more than 2,700 tanks and 5,000 armoured personnel carriers and armoured personnel carriers. It is likely that about 350,000 people were killed and wounded.
“Mobilisation and recruitment, production and refurbishment of existing stockpiles means that losses have been replaced. Russian forces in Ukraine are now larger in number than at the start of the war. It is now able to maintain attacks along the frontline and pursue a strategy of attrition against Ukrainian forces," the statement says.
- According to the General Staff, the Russian army has lost more than 409,000 soldiers over the two years of the full-scale invasion.
