'Battles in ruins': Ukraine's 100th Brigade details fierce fighting near Toretsk
There are no intact buildings left in Toretsk, so now there are no street battles in the traditional sense, but rather combat among the ruins
Press officer of the 100th Separate Mechanized Brigade Serhii Khominskyi said this on Espreso TV.
"The 100th Separate Mechanized Brigade, along with attached units, has been fighting for Toretsk in the Toretsk sector for eleven months. This battle is currently the longest of the Russian-Ukrainian war," emphasized Khominskyi.
According to the press officer of the 100th Brigade, the Russians continue trying to carry out their dark intentions — to break through, overcome the Toretsk barrier, and get closer to Kostiantynivka.
"Kostiantynivka is the first city in the belt of four: Kostiantynivka, Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, and Sloviansk. This is the Kramatorsk-Kostiantynivka agglomeration, a strategic defensive line and our stronghold in the unoccupied part of Donetsk region," Khominskyi said.
The press officer added that today Toretsk is not even ruins, but the remnants of ruins of many buildings. Virtually nothing remains — it’s flattened construction debris.
"Since there are no intact buildings left in Toretsk, we can speak of a new phenomenon — these are no longer traditional urban battles, but battles among ruins. This is an entirely new tactic," Khominskyi noted.
- On May 29, 173 combat engagements took place on the Russian-Ukrainian front. In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 66 Russian assaults.
