At least 1 dead, 12 wounded after Russia attacks residential house in Dnipro
On June 28, Russian forces attacked Dnipro, damaging a nine-story building and killing one person and injuring 12 others, including a 7-month-old baby
The situation as of the morning of June 29 was updated by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
"As of the morning of June 29, 1 person died, 12 people were injured, including 1 child. Two people were rescued. In one of the entrances, apartments from 8 to 11 floors were destroyed. 11 cars were damaged. A fire was extinguished on an area of 150 square meters. 190 tons of construction waste was removed. More than 100 rescuers and 35 pieces of equipment were engaged by the State Emergency Service,” the statement said.
On June 29, police identified the deceased as a 76-year-old resident of the destroyed apartment building.
In the morning, two women were reported missing. As of 11:00 a.m., 39 people had filed statements with the police about property damage.
Russian airstrike on Dnipro on June 28: all details
The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration Serhiy Lysak was the first who reported the information.
"The Russian army launched a rocket attack on Dnipro, damaging a nine-story building with several floors destroyed," he stated.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the Russian attack. According to him, four floors were destroyed and three people were injured. Rescuers are providing all necessary assistance at the scene.
"That is why we constantly remind all our partners: only a sufficient quantity and quality of air defense systems, only sufficient determination of the world can stop Russian terror. We need these solutions - we need a reliable air shield for Ukraine," Zelenskyy emphasized.
Later, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported that one person has died and five others are injured in Dnipro. He warned that there could be more victims trapped in their apartments as rescuers work to clear the rubble.
At 7:59 p.m., Lysak said that one person was killed, and 6 others were injured, including a 7-month-old baby, as a result of Russian attack.
According to him, three locals are in serious condition. They are women aged 27 and 30 and a 29-year-old man. The rest are in medium condition.
Ukrainian military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko described the attack as "another episode of bloody Russian terror".
As of 8:50 p.m., the number of the injured in Dnipro increased to 9. At least one person is killed, and two people are missing.
The search and rescue operation continues.
