All crew of downed Russian A-50 aircraft killed - media
24 February, 2024 Saturday, 18:16 Ukrainian intelligence has confirmed that the entire crew of the A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft shot down on February 23 was killed
Ukrinform and Ukrainska Pravda reported this with reference to sources in the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
According to intelligence sources, there were 10 crew members on board the downed A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft.
"The entire crew of the A-50 was killed," the source said.
"Among them are five majors, three captains, an ensign and a lieutenant.
Among the killed are:
- Aircraft commander – Major Borovikov;
- Assistant commander – Major Chantsev;
- Navigator – Captain Provalov;
- Onboard engineer – Captain Vasilyev;
- Senior airborne radio operator – Warrant Officer Khrulev;
- Chief of the crew, shift supervisor – Major Fedosov;
- Guidance navigator – Major Rulyuk;
- Guidance navigator – Lieutenant Telmanov;
- Senior onboard engineer – Captain Byelov;
- Onboard engineer – Major Soldatkin.
It is currently known that the military transport aviation has seven long-range radar detection aircraft.
There were no casualties from the crash on the ground.
It is noted that it is currently known that there are 7 long-range radar detection aircraft in the military transport aviation of the Russian Federation.
- On the evening of February 23, the Ukrainian Defence Forces targeted a Russian A-50U aircraft. Russia, on the other hand, claimed that the aircraft had crashed, causing the reeds to catch fire.
