On August 24, gas and oil drilling platforms, known as the Boyko towers, caught fire in the Black Sea near the coast of Russian-occupied Crimea

All three drilling platforms east of Zmiinyi Island were attacked.

"As of August 24, the middle platform is on fire, and a column of smoke is coming from the 3rd platform," the statement says.

In September 2023, Ukrainian defenders took control of the Boyko oil and gas drilling platforms, which had been seized since 2015.
