Advanced Ukrainian drones represent future of warfare — former CIA chief Petraeus
Unmanned aerial systems used by Ukraine to deter Russian aggression are a lethal weapon, tomorrow's technologies that will be the future of warfare
General David Petraeus, a member of the Kyiv Security Forum’s Security Council and former Commander of U.S. Central Command (2008-2010) and Director of the CIA (2011-2012), made this statement during the 17th Annual Kyiv Security Forum, held on May 8 and 9.
David Petraeus stated that what is being seen in terms of innovation is likely the most advanced in the world, emphasizing that it concerns "tomorrow's technology." He mentioned that Ukrainians are holding the front line and that innovations are crucial in this context. He highlighted that Ukrainians possess unmanned systems, including “kamikaze”drones, which are extremely lethal, adding that even armored weapons cannot withstand them.
He clarified that this includes both reconnaissance drones and naval drones used to target Russian forces in the Black Sea. "This is the future of warfare," the former CIA chief concluded.
- Ukraine has made significant progress in the development of military technologies and is gradually catching up with Russia in key areas of weaponry, especially UAVs and artillery, said Major General Christian Freuding, Director of the Joint Planning and Command Staff and Head of the Special Staff for Ukraine at the German Ministry of Defense.
