84 combat clashes occur at frontline, Russian forces advance on Lyman, Pokrovsk sectors

Since the beginning of the day July 5, the Russian forces have continued to increase the pace of offensive actions in the Lyman and Pokrovsk sectors. The number of combat clashes along the entire front line rose to 84

Ukraine's General Staff reported the information on July 5.

Ukrainian defenders are confidently holding back the onslaught of Russian occupation forces and inflicting significant losses on Russia. At the same time, Kharkiv region is under constant bombardment by Russian aircraft. 

On July 5, from the Russian cities of Belhorod and Shebekino, the Russian troops conducted a total of five air strikes, dropping nine KABs. They targeted the areas of Ukrainian settlements Vovchansk, Hlyboke and Ruska Lozova. At the same time, two Russian attacks near Hlyboke in the Kharkiv sector were repelled. No positions were lost. Two more clashes are ongoing there. 

In the Kupyansk sector, the Russian forces stormed Ukrainian positions near Synkivka twice without success. Russia's aircraft fired twice with unguided aerial missiles near Stepova Novoselivka - a total of two dozen unguided aerial missiles were launched. Moreover, two guided aerial bombs exploded near Kurylivka.

In the Lyman sector, the invading Russian army carried out 17 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Nevske, Makiivka, Hrekivka, Terny and in the Serebryansky forest. 11 engagements ended without success for Russia, six more are ongoing. The Russian forces are most active in the area of Terny, accounting for more than a third of all combat engagements.

The Russian troops continue to try to find weaknesses in our defense in the Siversk sector. Near Spirne, Bilohorivka and Vyimka, Ukrainian defenders repelled six Russian attacks. A battle is currently underway near Spirne. The situation is under control.

In the Kramatorsk sector, the Russian troops made three unsuccessful assaults on the positions of Ukrainian troops near Kalynivka, Klishchiyivka and Ivanivske. They shelled Chasiv Yar twice from army aviation weapons.

The number of Russian attacks in the Toretsk sector increased to nine. The Russian forces, with the support of aviation, tried to advance towards New York and Toretsk twice each. The aggressor made four more attacks near Pivnichne. Fighting is still ongoing in three locations. In total, Russia carried out five air strikes in the area.

The Pokrovsk sector witnessed the highest number of combat engagements. Since the beginning of the day, the Russian forces have already made 29 attempts to force Ukrainian defenders out of their positions in the areas of Kalynove, Novooleksandrivka, Yevhenivka, Novoselivka Persha, Yasnobrodivka and Netailove. Russia conducted almost half of the attacks near Novooleksandrivka and Novoselivka Persha. The Russian forces supported their actions with three air strikes.

Defense forces are holding back the onslaught and repelled 17 Russian attacks, 12 battles are still ongoing.

Fighting continues in the Kurakhove sector. So far, Ukrainian defenders have repelled six attacks by the occupying army. Russia is concentrating its efforts towards Krasnohorivka. 

In the Vremivka sector, three Russian assaults towards Kostyantynivka and two near Vodiane were repelled. Russia dropped a couple of bombs near Yelizavetivka.

In the Orikhiv sector, the Russian forces received a fierce rebuff near Mala Tokmachka. Moreover, they launched 32 unguided aerial missiles near Luhove.

  • Russia lost 54 artillery systems, 10 tanks and over 1,000 soldiers in one day of war in Ukraine.
