He shared this information during an interview on Espreso TV.

"Currently, 682 civilians are still in Chasiv Yar. Evacuating these individuals is challenging. I've discussed this situation before. The issue lies in convincing the elderly residents to leave the city; it's very difficult," explained Chaus.

Chaus mentioned that it's easier to persuade young people to evacuate.

"While there is a segment of young people in the city, explaining the importance of evacuation to them is relatively straightforward. However, in most cases, people only agree to evacuate when their homes are completely destroyed or damaged," he added.

  • On April 27, the ISW reported that Russian forces are continuing offensive operations in the Chasiv Yar area of the Donetsk region. They may attempt to bypass the city and create conditions for an operational encirclement.
  • Military journalist Andriy Tsaplienko mentioned that Ukraine deployed fighters from the Main Intelligence Directorate to defend Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region.
  • On April 29, the deputy head of the General Staff of the Estonian Defense Forces's operational department expressed confidence that the Russians would not achieve their goal of capturing Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region by May 9. Subsequently, Roman Pohorilyi, co-founder of DeepState, reported that the Defense Forces stabilized the situation in the area of Chasiv Yar.
