59 battles recorded as Russian forces intensify attacks in Toretsk, Pokrovsk

Russian troops launched numerous attacks, targeting Ukrainian positions in Toretsk and Pokrovsk, while shelling civilian areas with artillery and airstrikes

Since the beginning of March 5, 59 battles have taken place on the Russian-Ukrainian front. The Defense Forces repelled 11 enemy attacks in the Pokrovsk direction and 9 in the Toretsk direction. This was reported in the General Staff’s update.

Ukrainian settlements suffered from Russian artillery shelling from the territory of the Russian Federation, including the areas of Khrinivka and Yasna Polyana in the Chernihiv region, as well as Tymofiivka in the Kharkiv region.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv direction, fighting continues—Russian occupiers are attempting to break through Ukrainian defensive lines toward Vovchansk. The situation remains under the control of the Defense Forces.

In the Kupyansk direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions once near the settlement of Holubivka, but the Defense Forces stopped the advance.

In the Lyman direction, the invading Russian  army launched five attacks on Ukrainian positions near Novomykhailivka and Novo. Four battles are currently ongoing.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the Defense Forces repelled four Russian attacks in the areas of Chasiv Yar, Oleksandro-Shultyne, and Predtechyne, with one battle still ongoing.

In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces attempted to dislodge Ukrainian units from their positions near Toretsk, Dachne, and Dyliivka. The Defense Forces repelled nine assaults, while three more battles are still ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the Russian enemy attempted 11 times to push the Defense Forces from their positions in the areas of Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Pishchane, Kotlyne, Bohdanivka, Kotliarivka, and Andriivka. Ukrainian defenders repelled all attacks. The occupiers carried out airstrikes with guided bombs on the settlements of Zelene Pole, Pokrovsk, Chunishyne, and Oleksiivka.

In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian troops repelled two attacks by the occupying army near Kostyantynopol and Burlatske. The enemy also launched airstrikes near the settlements of Odradne and Vesele.

In the Hulyaipole direction, the Russian enemy carried out airstrikes on the settlements of Hulyaipole, Shevchenko, Zaliznychne, and Novopil.

In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled an enemy attack toward Kamianske.

In the Kursk direction, the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled eight Russian attacks, while four more battles are ongoing. Additionally, the enemy conducted 226 artillery strikes on Ukrainian positions and settlements, including six from multiple launch rocket systems. They also carried out seven airstrikes, dropping 14 guided bombs.

In the Siversky and Prydniprovsky directions, the enemy did not conduct active operations.

  • On March 4, 108 combat engagements were recorded on the Russian-Ukrainian front, with the most attacks occurring in the Kursk and Pokrovsk directions.
