172 combat clashes at Russian-Ukrainian frontline: Russia is attacking most actively in Kurakhove sector

There were 172 combat clashes at the Russian-Ukrainian frontline yesterday. Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled most of Russia's attacks in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove sectors

This was reported by Ukraine's General Staff as of 8:00 a.m. on October 9. 

According to updated information, yesterday the Russian army launched one missile attack on Ukrainian unit positions and settlements using three missiles, along with 82 air strikes, which included dropping 137 KABs. Additionally, Russian forces conducted 3,460 attacks, 70 of which involved multiple launch rocket systems, and deployed 1,190 kamikaze drones.

Russian air strikes targeted areas around 43 different settlements across Ukraine.

Over the past day, Ukraine's missile troops and artillery hit five Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment concentrations, one air defense facility and one command post.

Frontline update

In the Kharkiv direction, Russia attempted to assault four times near Vovchansk and Starytsia. In addition, Russian forces attacked the city of Kharkiv with guided aerial bombs, causing damage to civilians and civilian infrastructure.

In the Kupyansk direction, 18 attacks took place over the day. The Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled Russia's assaults near 7 settlements.

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops attacked 19 times. They tried to break into Ukraine's defense near 8 settlements.

In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled two assault attempts by Russian forces near Ivano-Darivka and Spirne.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces launched four attacks near Kalynivka, Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, and Bila Hora.

In the Toretsk direction, Russia, heavily relying on aviation, carried out 12 air strikes near Toretsk, Nelipivka, and Dyliivka.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders successfully halted 37 Russian assault and offensive actions targeting eight settlements. The highest concentration of the attacks occurred near Selydove and Lysivka.

In the Kurakhove direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 40 attacks. Russian forces targeted 11 settlements, with the most intense activity seen in Katerynivka and Antonivka.

In the Vremivka direction, Russia launched six attacks on Ukrainian positions near Bohoyavlenka.

In the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces stormed the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces twice near Robotyne and Novodanylivka.

The Russian army unsuccessfully attacked Ukrainian units in the Prydniprovskyi direction six times.

The operation in the Kursk region continues. Russia's aircraft continues to raze its own villages and towns to the ground. Over the past day, Russian aircraft carried out ten air strikes with eleven KABs on their own territory.

On the border with Belarus, no signs of Russian offensive groups formation were detected.

On the border with the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the Russian army is actively employing artillery and aviation against Ukrainian settlements from within its territory.

  • Over the past day, the Russian army lost at least 1,150 soldiers in the war in Ukraine. Ukrainian forces eliminated 19 Russian artillery systems and 31 drones.
