164 skirmishes in one day: Russian forces in Kursk region attack their own territory with aircraft
Most clashes between Russian and Ukrainian forces yesterday took place in Kurakhove, which saw 60 of a total 164 clashes
This information comes from the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces as of 08:00 on October 20.
Yesterday, Russian troops launched four missile strikes (using five missiles) and 81 airstrikes on Ukrainian positions and populated areas, including the use of 155 guided bombs. They also carried out over 3,500 shelling attacks, 91 of them using multiple rocket launchers (MLRS).
Russia launched airstrikes targeting 19 settlements across Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian air and missile forces struck five Russian personnel and anti-aircraft defense sites and hit two command posts.
Frontline update
In the Kharkiv direction, there were eight clashes near Vovchansk and Starytsia.
In the Kupyansk direction, Russian forces launched 16 attacks, but Ukrainian defense repelled assaults near Kucherivka, Kolisnykivka, Kruhlyakivka, and Lozova.
In the Lyman direction, Russian troops attacked 11 times around Novomykhailivka, Hrekivka, Terny, and Serebryanka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, three assaults occurred near Andriivka, Predtechyne, and Stupochky.
In the Toretsk direction, Russia launched four attacks near Toretsk, Shcherbynivka, and toward Oleksandro-Shultyne.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 27 assaults near Myrolyubivka, Promin, and Selydove, where Russian aviation tried to dislodge Ukrainian units. The heaviest concentration of attacks was near Selydove.
In the Kurakhove direction, 60 attacks were repelled near Zoryane, Novodmytrivka, Zhelanne Druhe, Hirnyk, Heorhiivka, Maksymilianivka, Antonivka, and Katerynivka, as Russian forces tried to break through.
In the Vremivka direction, Russian forces launched six assaults near Novoukrainka and Bohoyavlenka.
In the Orikhiv direction, there were two Russian advances near Mala Tokmachka.
In the Kherson direction, six clashes took place in the Dnipro Delta island zone, but Russian forces saw no success.
The situation remained largely unchanged in the Siversk and Huliaipole directions, and no significant Russian formations were detected near the Belarus border.
Ukrainian forces continue operations in the Kursk region, where Russian aircraft are attacking their own territory. Over the past day, Russian military aircraft conducted 46 airstrikes, dropping 72 guided bombs.
Along the border with Chernihiv and Sumy, Russian troops maintain a military presence, attack populated areas from their own territory, conduct sabotage and reconnaissance, and increase the density of minefields along the Ukrainian border.
During these operations, Russia lost dozens of equipment units and over 1,300 soldiers.
