123 clashes occur at front over last day: Russia attacks in 10 directions - Ukraine's General Staff

Since the beginning of the day on August 2, 123 combat clashes have taken place at the front. The situation remains tense in the Pokrovsk sector, where Russians made 36 attempts to storm the Ukrainian positions

This is stated in the General Staff's report as of 8:00 am.

Over the past day, 123 combat clashes were registered.

According to the updated information, yesterday the Russian army launched one missile attack on the positions of Ukrainian units and settlements using three missiles, as well as 80 air strikes, including 114 guided bombs. In addition, it carried out 4693 attacks, 93 of which were from multiple launch rocket systems.

6 settlements in the Kharkiv region, 17 in the Donetsk region, 2 in the Zaporizhzhia region, and 1 in the Kherson region came under hostile fire.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian troops continued offensive (assault) actions, a total of six combat clashes took place. The fighting occurred near the settlements of Hlyboke, Tykhe, and Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region.

In the Kupyansk direction, the number of combat clashes amounted to three over the last day. The Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled Russian attacks near Stelmakhivka, Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 15 hostile attacks near Makiivka, Luhansk region, Terny and Torske, Donetsk region.

In the Siversk direction, the Defense Forces rebuffed 11 attacks in the area of 5 localities.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian troops stopped 12 Russia's attempts to break through the Ukrainian defense near Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region.

Russia tried to break into Ukraine's defense in the Toretsk direction 24 times in the vicinity of Pivnichne, Toretsk, New York and Zalizne. 

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 36 attacks near 6 populated areas, where Russia tried to force Ukraine's units out of their positions. 

In the Kurakhove direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back their enemy in the vicinity of Krasnohorivka and Kostiantynivka, where the Russian troops tried to break through Ukrainian defensive positions three times. 

In the Vremivka direction, Russia made five unsuccessful attempts to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops in the Donetsk region.

In the Orikhiv direction, two combat clashes occurred near Novodanylivka and Novoandriivka in Zaporizhzhia region.

The situation on the border with Belarus remained unchanged. No signs of the formation of Russian offensive groups were detected. 

On the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the Russian forces maintain a military presence, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, and shells settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation. 

The situation in other sectors remains unchanged.

  • On August 1, 127 combat clashes took place at the front. Russian troops continued to attack the Pokrovsk sector the most.
