106 clashes occur at front on Dec.5: Russia attacks in Ukraine's Kurakhove sector

Since the beginning of the day on December 5, 106 combat engagements took place on the Russian-Ukrainian front, with 35 in the Kurakhove sector

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this in daily update.

Border settlements continue to suffer from shelling from the territory of the Russian Federation. The areas around Krasnopillia, Pokrovka and Demyanivka in the Sumy region were hit by cannon artillery fire. In addition, the Russian army launched a drone strike on Hlukhiv and in the Kharkiv sector near Kruhle.

Frontline situation 

In the Kupyansk sector, Ukrainian troops are repelling three Russian attacks in the direction of Nova Kruhliakivka and Lozova, one attack has already been repelled. Petropavlivka and Lozova were hit with guided bombs.

In the Lyman sector, the invading army carried out 12 assault and offensive actions near Hrekivka, Tverdokhlibove, Yampolivka, Terny, Zarichne, and Torske, with four more engagements ongoing.

Ukrainian defenders repelled a Russian attack in the Kramatorsk sector near Chasiv Yar. Defense Forces repelled one attack near Toretsk in the Toretsk sector.

In the Pokrovsk sector, since the beginning of the day, the Russians have made 26 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near the settlements of Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Dachanske, Zhovte, Pushkine, Novotroitske, and Novopustynka. The Defense Forces are holding back the onslaught and repelled 18 enemy attacks, 8 clashes are still ongoing. Russia's losses are being clarified.

In the Kurakhove sector, the Russians conducted 35 attacks near Berestky, Staryi Terny, Zorya, Sontsivka, Kurakhove, Dalne, Yelyzavetivka, Hanivka, Romanivka, and Uspenivka, ten engagements are still ongoing.

Ukrainian defenders repelled fifteen Russian attacks in the Vremivka sector near the settlements of Kostiantynopilske, Rozlyv, Sukhi Yaly, Makarivka and Novodarivka; ten of them are still ongoing.

In the Orikhiv sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled an enemy attack in the direction of Novodanylivka.

In the Siversk, Huliaipole, and Prydniprovskyi sectors, Russia did not conduct any active operations.

In the Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven enemy attacks. Fighting continues in four other locations.

  • Over the past day, the Russian army lost 1,580 soldiers in the war in Ukraine. Defense Forces destroyed a number of enemy vehicles, including 13 tanks.
