101 clashes at front, Russian troops attack in 10 directions - Ukraine's General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this as of 08:00 on August 9.

According to updated information, the Russian army launched 73 air strikes on Ukrainian positions and settlements yesterday, involving 89 combat aircraft. They fired 4,747 times, with over 180 of those strikes coming from multiple launch rocket systems.

Russian troops carried out air strikes,targeting 17 settlements across Ukraine.

Frontline situation 

In the Kharkiv sector, the Russian army continued assault operations. Six combat clashes took place near Vovchansk.

Three Russian attacks were registered in the Kupyansk sector. Ukraine's Defense Forces repelled Russian assaults near Synkivka, Petropavlivka, and in the direction of Hlushkivka.

In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 24 Russian attacks near Makiivka, Terny, and Nevske.

In the Siversk sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 13 attacks near Ivano-Darivka, Spirne, Verkhniokamianske, and Vyimka, with five of these attacks occurring near Vyimka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Ukrainian troops stopped ten Russian attempts to break through defenses near Chasiv Yar and Kalynivka.

In the Toretsk sector, the Russian army, with the support of aviation, carried out nine attacks. It concentrated its efforts near Pivnichne, New York, and Toretsk. Russian troops also stormed near Zalizne.

Ukrainian troops repelled 29 attacks in the Pokrovsk sector. Russia concentrated its main efforts near Panteleimonivka, Novooleksandrivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Ivanivka, Zhelanne, Novoselivka Persha, and Yasnobrodivka.

In the Kurakhove sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the Russian army near Krasnohorivka and Kostiantynivka. In total, Russia tried to break through the Ukrainian defense in this area three times.

In the Vremivka sector, Russian troops launched three unsuccessful attacks on Ukrainian positions in the direction of Vodiane and Vuhledar.

In the Orikhiv sector, there was one combat engagement near Mala Tokmachka, unsuccessful for Russian forces.

Near the border with Belarus, no signs of enemy offensive groups were detected. The operational situation has not changed significantly.

On the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, Russia maintains a military presence, has significantly intensified aviation activities, and fired from its territory at Bachivsk, Kucherivka, Romashkove, Kamianka, Popivka, Yunakivka, Buniakine, and a number of other border settlements.

• Over the past day, the Russian army lost 1,030 soldiers in the war in Ukraine. Ukrainian forces also destroyed 49 artillery systems and 32 UAVs.
