Russia treated Azov soldiers worse than other servicemen from Mariupol garrison - Azov fighter Zhaivoronok
Russian forces treated soldiers serving with the Azov regiment tangibly worse than other soldiers from the Mariupol garrison.
Vladyslav Zhaivoronok, an Azov fighter released from Russian captivity, said this at a press conference broadcast by Espreso.
"There was a difference between whether you were an Azov citizen or a marine, or a representative of another unit from the Mariupol garrison. Azov citizens were more interesting to them - they did worse during interrogations, they asked more questions about the command. Perhaps this is due to the fact that we are percieved as criminals and, first of all, among our own population," he said.
Zaivoronok added that they asked a lot of provocative questions.
"I worry for my friends, the most difficult thing for me is the death of thousands of civilians in Mariupol and throughout the country. The fact that they are trying to tie our actions to the death of civilians worries me. Almost 100% that they will use it in their fake courts," the fighter concluded.
