This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin, according to the Russian edition of TASS.
According to him, Russia is against the expansion or extension of the grain deal and is now "very closely monitoring the correction of the shortcomings of the agreements." He noted that if there are no guarantees for Russia, in particular regarding ammonia exports, the initiative "ceases to exist."
"Because an initiative that benefits only one of the parties can hardly be recognized and confirmed by all. We are, of course, primarily defending Russia's national interests," Vershinin added.
On March 14, the Russian Foreign Ministry proposed extending the grain deal for 60 days. For his part, Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov said that Russia's proposal to extend the grain deal for 60 days did not comply with the signed agreements, which provide for an extension of at least 120 days.
On April 26, Russia once again blocked the Black Sea grain corridor. As a result, ships were unable to leave Ukrainian ports.
As of May 8, 90 vessels carrying Ukrainian agricultural products were waiting for inspection in Turkish territorial waters, as Russia refuses to register and inspect them.
On May 9, the initiative resumed its work as a result of efforts on Turkey's part.
